Indian Grocery

Indian Grocery is located at Plot No-644/Gh1. We are in the MCD Slum Colony, specifically near the Upvan Apartment area. It’s close to the Shahbad Dairy in Prahladpur. It’s a very busy neighborhood with a lot of people living close together. Our shop is where people come to get their daily essentials like flour, oil, and soap. We keep the place open late because that's when most people are coming home from work and realize they forgot something for dinner. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls for shelves. It can feel a bit cramped when there are three or four customers in at once, but we make it work. We’ve been here for a while and we know the families who live in the nearby blocks. We hear about their kids and their jobs while we’re weighing out lentils or counting change. We don't have any fancy cooling systems or bright neon lights. It’s just a plain grocery store with the stuff you need to keep a house running. Sometimes the supply truck can't get all the way to the door because the lane is blocked, so we end up carrying the sacks by hand. It’s tiring, but it’s just part of the job. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. It’s just a local shop for the community here. Most days we are just happy to get everything stocked correctly.
