Hori Lal Pan Shop

My name is Hori Lal and I have been sitting here in Ashok Vihar Phase III for quite a long time now. It is just a small corner shop but people around here know where to find us. We open up early in the morning, getting the leaves ready and setting everything out on the counter. It is a bit dusty sometimes because of the road, but that is just how it is. People stop by on their way home from work or after dinner. We do not have anything fancy, just the usual things you expect at a pan shop. Sometimes I forget to restock certain items, and my son tells me I need to be more organized, but I just like talking to the regulars. Most of them have been coming since they were kids. Now they bring their own children. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is out for a walk. I keep the shop open until late. We have some cigarettes, matches, and the different types of pan fillings. It is not a big business or anything like that. Just a way to spend the day and keep things going. I know everyone’s name and what they usually ask for before they even say a word. It feels good to be part of the neighborhood like this. Sometimes the weather is too hot or it rains, but the shutters stay up. We are right here if you are passing through Phase III.
