About Goel Dal Mill – Food & Beverages in North Delhi
The mill is situated at L-144 in Sector-1 of the Bawana Industrial Area. It is a loud place once the machines start running in the morning. There is always a fine layer of dust on everything because of the grains we process. We handle various types of pulses and dal here. It’s hard work and the days are long. We usually start before the sun is fully up to beat the worst of the heat. The building isn't anything special. It’s just a large shed with the heavy machinery bolted to the floor. We have a small area partitioned off for the office where we keep the records. Goel Dal Mill is mostly a family-run operation. We have a few workers who have been with us since the beginning. Lunch is usually a quiet affair where we sit on the grain sacks and eat what we brought from home. The trucks come in waves, and sometimes the lane outside gets completely blocked. We have to go out and help direct traffic so the neighbors don't get too upset. It is a dirty, tiring job but it keeps us busy. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures. People know the dal we make and that is enough for us. We stay until the last order is bagged and loaded. Then we sweep the floor and get ready to do it all again tomorrow.
