Dhingra Metal Works

Wazirpur Industrial Area is a tough place to work, but it’s where we’ve been for a long time. Dhingra Metal Works is tucked away at B-70/3. If you come here, you’ll see rows of factories and lots of trucks loading and unloading metal sheets. It’s not a pretty place, just concrete and iron and a lot of grey smoke in the air. Inside our unit, it’s always loud because of the heavy presses and the cutting machines. We make all sorts of metal components. The workers wear their old clothes because everything gets covered in oil and grease within minutes. We start the day early, usually before the sun gets too high, to beat the worst of the heat inside the shed. There’s a small office in the corner where we keep the paperwork, but mostly we’re out on the floor. We don’t have fancy brochures or a corporate office in the city. Everything happens right here in Wazirpur. We’ve had the same neighbors for years, and we all know each other’s schedules. Sometimes the power goes out and we all have to sit outside for a bit until the generator kicks in. It’s just the daily grind of manufacturing. We focus on getting the dimensions right and making sure the crates are ready for the morning pickup. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday, year after year, with no real complaints from the hard-working crew.
