Delhi Kirana House

If you have ever been to Khari Baoli, you know how packed it gets. We are at number 6670. Delhi Kirana House has been sitting in this busy market for a long time. The smell of spices is always in the air here, sometimes it’s so strong it makes you sneeze. We spend our days surrounded by sacks of grains, pulses, and all kinds of kitchen staples. It is a loud place with handcarts pushing past and people shouting prices. Our shop is small but it is filled to the ceiling with stock. We don't have a lot of room to move around, but we know where everything is kept. The walls are old and the floors have seen better days, but that’s just how it is in this part of old Delhi. We have regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. They don't mind the crowd. We spend a lot of time weighing out goods on the scales and packing them into brown paper bags. It’s honest work. We don't do any fancy advertising. People find us because they know the address. When the sun goes down, the market slows down a bit, and we finally get to sit for a minute. We are just a local kirana shop trying to provide what the neighborhood needs. It’s dusty and noisy, but it is home to us. This is just how life goes in the heart of the city's trade.
