Chauhan Salt Supplier

We are based out of Alipur Nathu Pura in the Burari area. It is more of a warehouse than a shop, to be honest. We handle a lot of salt. Huge bags are stacked up all the way to the ceiling. It’s a bit of a gritty place because the salt gets into everything, even the hinges of the doors and the keyboards. My clothes usually have white marks on them by noon. We supply to local stores and some small factories around here. Burari is quite spread out, so we spend a lot of time coordinating with the drivers on where to go. The trucks come in and out of the yard all day, making a lot of noise. It’s not the kind of place where you come to browse. People usually call us or just show up to pick up a load. My father started this and now I’m the one looking after the accounts and the loading. The air smells a bit sharp because of all the mineral content in the air. We don't have fancy desks, just a wooden table where we keep the ledger. When it rains, we have to be really careful to keep everything dry, which can be a real scramble to cover the bags. It’s a plain business, just moving salt from one place to another. We’ve been in Nathu Pura for a long time, so everyone knows the Chauhan name around this part of town.
