Chandni Chowk is a crazy place to work, and we are right in the middle of all that at Katra Nil. Our spot is No. 644 in Gali Ghateshwar. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how crowded it gets. There are people everywhere, rickshaws honking, and the smell of street food in the air. We deal with clothes and fashion stuff. It’s mostly bulk items, stacks and stacks of them. The shop is actually quite small, but we managed to cram a lot in there. It’s an old building, so the walls have some cracks and the stairs are very steep and narrow. We spend our days unfolding and folding fabric for customers who squeeze into the shop. Sometimes it’s so hot in the summer that we just sit by the old fan and wait for the evening breeze to come through. We’ve been part of this market for many years now. It’s a family thing, passed down through a couple of people. We don't have a fancy catalog or a website. You just come in, look at what we have on the shelves, and we talk. Bargaining is just part of the life here. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, and it’s honestly very tiring. But at the end of the day, we close the shutters and feel okay about the work. It’s just life in the heart of the city.
