Brijwasi Trading Co

Bhagirath Palace is a maze if you don't know your way around, and Brijwasi Trading Co is right in the thick of it at number 1696. This building has been here forever, and you can feel the age in the walls and the narrow hallways. It’s a very crowded market, mostly known for all the electrical stuff and lights, so there is always a crowd outside. Our space is filled with boxes and parts, stacked up almost to the ceiling in some corners. It’s a bit of a struggle to find things sometimes, but we know where everything is hidden. The light inside is a bit dim compared to the bright shops on the main street, but it suits us fine. We spend the day talking to people who come in looking for specific items that they can't find elsewhere. There is a lot of paperwork, mostly hand-written notes and old ledgers, because that’s just how we’ve always done it. The chai wallah knows exactly when to bring the glasses around, and that’s usually the only break we get. Dealing with the traffic in Chandni Chowk just to get to work is a task in itself, but once we’re inside the shop, the outside world kind of fades away. It’s just us, the inventory, and the steady stream of customers. We’ve been here through many seasons, watching the market change while we stay mostly the same in our little corner.
