Bobis Collection

The Swadeshi Market in Sadar Bazar is always a whirlwind of people and noise, and Bobis Collection is right there at Shop No. 46. From the moment we open the doors, there is a constant stream of shoppers looking through the racks and piles of clothes. It is a very tight space, packed with different garments and fabrics that we have to keep folding and rearranging all day long. Sadar Bazar is known for being crowded, so we are used to the elbows and the loud voices of people bargaining nearby. We spend most of our time on our feet, reaching for items on high shelves or showing different colors to someone who isn't quite sure what they want. The floor is often covered with bits of plastic and thread by the end of the shift. There isn't much room for a proper break, so we usually just grab a quick tea while standing near the entrance. The heat in the market can be intense during the summer months, but the ceiling fan does its best to move the air around. We try to keep things as tidy as possible, but in a place like this, things get messy pretty fast. It is a lot of work to keep track of what is selling and what we need to get from the wholesalers, but that is the reality of running a shop in such a busy part of town.
