If you know Ajmeri Gate, you know how busy the streets can get, and our place at Shankar Market is right in the thick of it. We are located at No-104, 1311 Asafali Road, which is a street that never seems to go quiet even late in the evening. The building itself is quite old and the stairs up to the office can be a bit of a climb if you are carrying heavy samples. We have been dealing with metal and tubes from this small spot for a long time, and our walls are lined with old catalogs and notes from years of business. Space is at a premium here, so we have to be very careful about how we stack the smaller tubes and metal pieces so they don't get in the way of the door. The traffic outside is always a headache, with rickshaws and carts constantly blocking the front, but that is just part of being in this part of Delhi. We spend most of our time on the phone or talking to people who walk in looking for specific sizes. It is a bit dusty and the noise from the market is constant, but it feels like home to most of the staff who have worked here for decades. We don't have a big team, just a few people who know the metal trade inside out. Every day is about managing what comes in and what goes out through the narrow market lanes.
