Apex Global Foods

If you ever find yourself at the New Fruit Market in Azadpur, look for C-122. That’s where Apex Global Foods is based. Azadpur is a chaotic place, especially in the early hours of the morning when the trucks are all trying to squeeze through the gates. We’re right in the middle of all that noise. We deal with produce. It’s mostly bulk stuff that moves through here. We have crates of apples, oranges, and whatever else is in season stacked up to the ceiling. It smells like ripening fruit and diesel fumes most of the time. I start my shift when most people are still asleep. You have to be quick here, or you’ll miss the best loads. We aren't a huge corporation with offices in every city. It’s just a warehouse space with a small office partitioned off in the corner. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the fruit. If it’s bruised or overripe, it’s no good to anyone. The phone rings constantly with people looking for prices. We just try to keep things moving. It’s a lot of lifting and shouting to be heard over the engines. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now. The market is a tough place to work, but it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the food where it needs to go and making sure the crates are loaded correctly.
