If you’re looking for us, we’re tucked away in Gali Number 5/6, right near the Gurudwara in Dharampura. It’s a tight spot, as anyone who knows Gurudwara Gali can tell you. Anantmaya Fashions has been operating out of this building at 3228 for some time. It’s a noisy street sometimes, with the sounds from the temple and people moving through the lanes, but it feels like home to us. We handle a lot of the fashion work right here in these rooms. The space isn’t very big, so we have to be smart about where we put the stock. Sometimes the hallway gets blocked when we’re moving boxes, but the neighbors are used to it. We don't really have a big showroom or anything, it’s mostly just the work floor and a place to keep the finished pieces before they go out. It gets quite warm in the summer months, but we have some fans going to keep everyone moving. Working in Dharampura means we are close to everything we need. Most of us live nearby, so it’s a short walk to work. We spend our days checking seams and looking at patterns. It’s just regular work, nothing too complicated. We like being part of the local community here. Everyone knows where the 3228 building is. Sometimes we even share a tea with the people next door when things slow down for a few minutes in the afternoon.
