Alam Shaba

Our place is right on the Main Road at 1568 in Azad Market. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know how loud and packed it gets. Alam Shaba has been here for a long time, right in the middle of all the chaos. We deal with all sorts of people every day who are just passing through the market looking for things. The shop is narrow and we have boxes stacked almost to the ceiling sometimes. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is kept. Usually, someone is standing at the door because there isn't much room inside for more than two or three people at once. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the day to start. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the pace of the market. My cousin helps me out during the busy season when the trucks are unloading nearby. We try to be helpful to everyone who stops by, even if they are just asking for directions. The heat can be tough in the summer months but we have a small fan that keeps us going. It’s just a normal shop doing normal work for the folks in Delhi. We don't have much to say about ourselves, we just work and go home to sleep.
