New Dragon

Sadar Bazar is a crazy place, honestly. If you’ve been here, you know what I mean. New Dragon is at Shop No 949, tucked into Pan Mandi Market on Qutab Road. The noise never stops. You have the rickshaws, the trucks unloading, and people shouting all day. It’s a lot to take in if you're not used to it. I’ve been working at this shop for years. My father had it before me, though it was different back then. Qutab Road is always jammed. Sometimes it takes me twenty minutes just to cross the street to get some tea. Pan Mandi is famous for all sorts of things, but we just focus on what we do. Our shop isn't big. It's narrow, like most places in Sadar Bazar. We have the number 949 painted on the side so people can find us among all the other doors. It gets very hot in the afternoons. We have a small fan that barely does anything, but we get by. The customers are mostly people who work in the other markets or traders passing through. They want something quick. We don't have much time for chatting when it's busy. By the time we close up, I’m usually exhausted. But this is the heart of the city, and there’s nowhere else quite like it. It’s a tough spot, but it’s home for us and our family.
