Trainee In Hotel Le Meridian, New Delhi

I’m currently working as a trainee at Hotel Le Meridian over in the main part of New Delhi, but I live at 1/5546 in Balbir Nagar Extension. My place is on the second floor of a building in Shahdara. It’s a typical Delhi neighborhood where everyone knows everyone’s business. The commute from Shahdara to the hotel is quite a long one every day, especially with the metro or the buses. Being a trainee means I’m learning the ropes of the hotel industry, which is mostly about being on your feet and helping guests with whatever they need. It’s exhausting work and the shifts are often long. When I get home to the 110032 area, I’m usually too tired to do much else. The apartment is small but it’s where I grew up. My family has been in this part of Shahdara for a long time. At the hotel, everything is very polished and expensive, but my home life is much simpler. I’m just trying to get my experience so I can move up in the industry eventually. There are a lot of other people in my neighborhood doing similar things, just trying to make a living. It’s a lot of manual work and following orders right now. Sometimes the pressure is high, but that is just part of being the new person in a big hotel. I hope that one day all this running around pays off for me.
