Maidens Hotel Delhi

Maidens Hotel Delhi feels like it’s from another time entirely. We are over at Prema Kunj in Civil Lines. It’s a lot quieter here than the rest of the city. You have these huge old trees that give a lot of shade, which is nice when the Delhi heat gets bad. The building itself has been standing for a long time, and you can see it in the thick walls and the high ceilings. We spend our days making sure the gardens look okay and that the rooms aren't getting too dusty. It’s a lot of maintenance because old places like this need a lot of looking after. You won’t find us acting like those modern glass hotels. It’s more laid back and slow. We have people working here whose fathers used to work here too. There is a sense of history in the hallways, but we don’t really talk about it like a museum. It’s just where we work. Guests come because they like the quiet, and we try to give them that. Sometimes you hear the birds in the morning more than you hear the traffic. It’s a steady pace of work. We check the linens, we sweep the paths, and we make sure the gates are shut at night. It’s just a peaceful corner of a very busy city.
