The Taj Mahal Hotel, New Delhi

The Taj Mahal Hotel is a big name, but our office here is at House No- 4633, Gali No- 50 in Regar Pura. This is Karol Bagh, so it’s a totally different world from the big fancy hotels. Our street is narrow and always packed with shops and people. We work out of this house. It’s a bit cramped, honestly. We handle things like recruitment or back-end stuff for the hotel. You wouldn’t know it from the outside. It just looks like any other building in Gali No 50. We have desks squeezed in and there’s always someone coming in for an interview or to drop off papers. The sounds of the market are always in the background. Karol Bagh is loud, especially in the afternoons. We try to keep things organized, but it’s hard with so much going on. We drink a lot of chai from the guy downstairs. Most of us have been here for a couple of years. We know the shortcut to the main road to avoid the worst traffic. It’s not a polished environment. There are files everywhere and the paint is peeling a bit in the corners. We just do our part to keep the bigger business running. It’s honest work in a very busy part of New Delhi. We just show up, do the tasks, and head back home through the crowds.
