The Imperial Hotel, New Delhi

The Imperial Hotel has this spot at 86-D in the Gulabi Bag DDA Flats. It is a quiet area of Delhi-110007. This isn’t the big fancy hotel lobby you might be thinking of with the marble floors and the big chandeliers. This is where we handle some of the administrative bits and pieces that keep the place running. The flat is functional and a bit cramped with all the files we have to keep. We have a few desks and some chairs that have been around for years. The windows look out onto the common area of the flats where people hang their laundry and talk. It’s very much a local Delhi vibe here. We get our tea from the guy at the corner and he knows exactly how much sugar we like. The doorbell rings quite often with deliveries or people looking for the wrong block. We just point them the right way and get back to work. It’s a lot of data entry and phone calls most of the time. We don't have a big corporate culture here. It's more like a small family. We celebrate birthdays with some sweets from the local shop. The paint on the walls is a bit faded, but it doesn't bother us much. We are just here to do the job and make sure everything is sorted for the main hotel operations. It works for us and we just keep things moving.
