The Claridges

The gates at 12 Aurangzeb Road have been here for quite a while now. We go about our business every day, making sure the rooms are ready and the gardens out back look decent enough for people to sit in. It is a quiet part of the city, mostly just old trees and big houses around us. Being in this part of Delhi means we see a lot of people passing through. Some stay for a night and others just come for a quick meeting or a bite. We don't really do anything fancy or complicated, just keeping the place running. The staff here has been around for years. You might see someone polishing the brass or watering the plants early in the morning before it gets too hot. It is not always perfect. Sometimes a light bulb flickers or the floors need another sweep, but that is just how an old building is. We like the history of the place, even if it feels a bit slow compared to the rest of the city. People know where we are, right there on the corner, and we try to keep things steady. No one is rushing around here. We just focus on the daily stuff, like making sure there is fresh tea or that the laundry is done on time. It is a big responsibility looking after a spot like this, but we just take it one day at a time without making a big fuss. We are just here.
