The Ambassador Hotel

This place is at M-1 in the Tara Apartments. It's a bit of a different setup being in an apartment complex like this in New Delhi. We have rooms for people to stay when they are visiting the city. It’s not like those giant hotels you see near the airport. It feels a bit more like being in a regular building, which some people seem to like. We spend our time checking people in and making sure the rooms are cleaned up after someone leaves. There’s always laundry to be done and keys to keep track of. Sometimes the lift is a bit slow or a guest can’t find the entrance because the signs aren't huge. We just try to make sure things work. The staff here is small, so we all end up doing a bit of everything, from answering the phone to helping with bags. It’s a lot of standing around waiting for guests to arrive, especially when trains or flights are late. The neighborhood is okay, usually quiet enough at night for people to sleep. We’ve had all sorts of people stay here over the years. Some stay for a night, others stay for a week while they do business in Delhi. We just keep the lights on and the beds ready. It’s a simple business but it keeps us very busy most days.
