Taj Palace New Delhi

The lobby here at Taj Palace New Delhi is almost never quiet. There’s always someone checking in or a group of people heading to a meeting. Our staff comes from all over, and we spend a lot of time just making sure the floors are clean and the flowers look fresh. It’s a lot of walking back and forth on the carpets, and by the end of a shift, your feet really feel it. We don't really have a set routine because you never know who is going to walk through the door or what they might ask for. Sometimes the kitchen is absolute chaos when there’s a big wedding, but we just keep our heads down and do what needs doing. The address on the paperwork might say "Chk Resume," which is a bit of a funny internal note, but the reality is just a lot of hard work in a big building. We spend a lot of time in the back hallways where guests don't go, moving carts of towels or boxes of supplies. It's not always easy, and sometimes we get tired of the same questions, but we try to stay polite. It’s just about getting through the day and making sure the rooms are actually ready when someone arrives. No big mystery to it, just keeping a very large house in order for visitors.
