Shangri-La New Delhi

We’ve been here at 19 Ashok Road for a while now. If you know Delhi, you know how busy it gets around this part of town. The morning starts early with the sound of cars and people moving about. We spend most of our time just making sure the place is running okay. It’s a big building and there is always something that needs fixing or someone arriving at the door. New Delhi has a certain energy that you can’t really escape, especially when you are right in the middle of it like we are. Sometimes the heat is a bit much in the summer months, but we just keep going. People come through from all sorts of places. We don’t really do anything fancy in terms of how we talk to folks, we just try to be helpful. It’s mostly about keeping the rooms tidy and making sure the lobby doesn't get too chaotic. The staff here are mostly local people who know the shortcuts around the city. We see the same faces sometimes and a lot of new ones too. It is just the way things go in a city like this. We are right by the main roads so it’s easy for people to find us, though the traffic can be a real pain during the rush hour. We just focus on the day-to-day stuff and hope everything runs smooth. It is just a job at the end of the day.
