Beads Of Silver

Our little spot is located up on the third floor of AM-6 in Shalimar Bagh. It is a bit of a climb because the stairs are quite narrow, but once you get up here, it is surprisingly quiet compared to all the street noise down below. We spend our days surrounded by thousands of tiny beads and silver pieces. It takes a lot of patience to sit at a small desk and sort through them all by their size and how much they shine. Most of the people working here have very steady hands, which is something I never quite managed to do, so I mostly handle the incoming orders and the packing. We don't have a big showroom for people to walk through. It is mostly just rows of shelves and plastic bins full of our stock. We started this because we really loved the way silver looked when it was all polished up, and it just grew into a small business over the years. We get a lot of local jewelry makers coming by to pick out specific items they need for their own creative projects. We usually have a small radio playing in the background to keep things from getting too quiet. Sometimes the light in the late afternoon hits the room just right and the whole place sparkles. It is a simple and calm way to make a living. We aren't trying to be the biggest sellers in Delhi.
