Our shop, Ethnic Silver, is tucked away in 9-A Bistro Complex within Hauz Khas Village. If you know the area, you know it’s a mix of narrow lanes and old buildings. It’s a bit different from the big shopping malls. We don’t have a lot of space, but we make it work. The shelves are filled with different silver pieces we’ve collected or worked on. It’s often quiet in the mornings before the crowds arrive in the village. We spend time cleaning the display cases and sorting through new items. The light coming through the window is nice in the afternoon. We aren't a big corporate chain. It’s just a small business where we handle things ourselves. Sometimes the air conditioner acts up, so it gets a bit warm in here during the peak of summer. We see a lot of different people walking by, mostly tourists or locals looking for something unique. The bistro complex has a few other shops, so we know our neighbors pretty well. We don't do much fancy advertising. Most people just stumble upon us while they are walking through the village. It’s a bit cramped when there are more than four people in the shop at once. We keep a small stool behind the counter for when things get slow. We like the atmosphere of Hauz Khas; it has a lot more character than the newer parts of the city.
