John Exprter

John Exprter is right at No. 200 A in Sarojini Nagar Market. Most people know this market for the shopping, but we’re back here in the middle of it all doing the logistics side. It’s loud from morning until late at night. Our space at 200 A is pretty small, and we have boxes stacked almost to the ceiling. We spend the day coordinating where things need to go. It’s a lot of phone calls and checking manifests. John is usually around, though he’s often out talking to the vendors or checking on a shipment. The air in the market is always thick with the smell of street food and the sound of people bargaining. We have a small table where we keep the ledger and a very old computer that still works somehow. Sometimes customers wander in thinking we sell individual pieces, and we have to tell them we’re more about the export side. It’s a bit chaotic, but there’s a system to it. We drink a lot of tea to stay focused. The floor is made of old tiles that are a bit cracked, but they’ve held up for a long time. Working in Sarojini Nagar means you never have a dull day. We just try to get the crates packed and the labels stuck on before the sun goes down and the market gets even more crowded.
