Time & Tune

If you find yourself near the Old Post Office on Gurudwara Road, you’ll see our shop, Time & Tune, at number 1418. Kotla Mubarakpur is a crowded area with narrow streets, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze getting around. We spend most of our hours here surrounded by the sound of clocks ticking and the occasional radio playing in the background. The shop has been in the same spot for a while, and the walls are covered with different timepieces we’ve collected or worked on. It’s not one of those shiny malls; it’s just a small room where we sit and handle things. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud you can’t hear the chimes, but we’re used to it by now. We usually have a pile of work on the main counter, mostly old watches that need a bit of attention or clocks that have stopped for no clear reason. People often stop by just to ask for directions to the Gurudwara because we are right on that road. We don't have a big team, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. The lighting inside is a bit dim, but we have a bright lamp for the close-up work. Every morning starts with winding the main display pieces and sweeping the floor. It’s a quiet kind of life inside the shop, even though the street outside is always in a hurry and never seems to slow down.
