Royal Caps House

We make caps of all kinds here at Royal Caps House. Our place is at 6716, Ahata Kidara, which is right off Chamelian Road in the Bara Hindu Rao area. It’s a very busy part of the city, and the streets are always filled with rickshaws and people carrying bundles of cloth. Our workshop is not very big, but we manage to fit a lot of sewing machines and rolls of fabric inside. It’s usually quite loud because of the motors humming and the radio playing in the background to keep everyone's spirits up. We aren't a big factory; it's more like a group of us sitting together and working through the piles of material. The walls are lined with finished caps and samples from over the years. Some of them have been there so long they've faded a bit. We spend a lot of time cutting, stitching, and checking the seams. It’s hard work on the eyes, especially when the sun starts to go down and the bulbs aren't that bright. We have tea twice a day, and that’s when we take a break and talk about what’s happening in the neighborhood. Chamelian Road is a place where everyone knows everyone else’s business, so there’s always something to talk about. We just stay at 6716 and keep our heads down. We’ve been sewing caps for a long time, and it’s just what we do to get by. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
