Rama Deluxe Hotel

Our hotel is located at 8488-A on Arakashan Road in Paharganj. This is a very hectic part of Delhi, and the street is always full of people, rickshaws, and travelers carrying heavy bags. We have a small entrance that leads up to the rooms, and we spend a lot of our day hauling luggage up and down the stairs. It’s not a fancy place, just basic rooms with beds and fans for people who need a place to stay near the railway station. I sit at the front desk most of the time, checking people in and writing their names in the ledger. We have to change the sheets and clean the bathrooms constantly because people are always coming and going at all hours of the night. The noise from the street never really stops, but that is just how Paharganj is. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble or a guest loses their key, and we have to fix it right away. We don’t have any elevators, so everyone has to use the stairs, which can be tiring in the heat. My family lives nearby, and we all take turns working the shifts so the desk is never empty. We’ve been running this building for a while now, and we’ve seen people from all over the world pass through our doors. It’s a tough business with a lot of cleaning, but it keeps us on our toes.
