Travel Junky

I’m sitting here at 1-C/Bg-3 in Paschim Vihar looking at a pile of old train schedules. My name is on the door for Travel Junky, but mostly I just spend my day answering the phone and trying to find people better seats on buses or planes. The traffic outside is always loud. You know how it gets here in this part of Delhi. We started this because we like to go places, but now I mostly just look at maps on a computer screen. The office isn't very big at all. There’s a small tea stall just down the road that we go to three times a day because the heat really gets to you. We handle a lot of family trips. People come in, sit on the plastic chairs, and ask about where to go for the summer holidays. Sometimes the printer jams when I’m trying to print out a visa form. It’s just how things go. We keep the files in these old blue folders on the shelf. My cousin helps out sometimes when it gets busy during the winter holidays. It is a lot of talking. I usually leave the door open to get some air, even if it brings in the dust from the street. We’ve been at this address for a while now. Most of the neighbors know us by sight. It isn't anything fancy, just a desk, a couple of old computers, and some travel posters that are starting to peel at the corners. We stay late most nights making sure the tickets are actually booked.
