Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi

Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi is at B-183A in Duggal Colony, which is part of the Khanpur area. This is not the big one you might see in pictures; it is our own place here in this specific neighborhood. The street is a bit narrow and there are lots of other houses and small shops around us. We have been here for a good amount of time. Every morning we start by cleaning the entrance and checking if everything is working right. The rooms are basic and we try to keep them as neat as possible for anyone who stays. Khanpur is a very crowded part of New Delhi, so there is always noise from scooters and people selling things on the street. We have a small desk where we keep the registers. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we have to use the backup. It is just part of living in this colony. We don’t have a huge staff or a big restaurant inside. It is mostly just us taking care of things. We know the neighbors well and we see the same people every day. Most people find us because they live nearby or have work in this part of town. We keep the keys on a board behind the counter. It is a straightforward operation and we just focus on the daily chores. Sometimes we sit on the steps.
