Our setup at Madhu Chawla Design Trend Pvt. Ltd. is right in the middle of Gobind Puri, specifically at 564/6. Being in New Delhi means it is rarely quiet outside, and we have sort of gotten used to the constant hum of the neighborhood. The office itself is where we handle all the design work and trend tracking. It’s not a fancy corporate showroom or anything like that. It’s mostly just desks, a lot of sketches, and piles of fabric samples that seem to grow every week. We start the day early before the traffic really peaks, usually grabbing tea from the corner shop first. The space is functional, with enough room for the team to sit and figure out the latest patterns we are working on. Most afternoons are spent going through emails or talking to suppliers about what’s coming in next. Sometimes the air conditioner struggles when it gets really hot in May, but we manage. The stairs up to the office are a bit narrow, so we have to be careful when we’re carrying rolls of material or heavy boxes. It’s a straightforward operation. We don’t spend much time on decorations; we just focus on getting the work done and making sure the designs look right. People come and go throughout the day, and there is always a bit of a rush around shipping deadlines. It is just a normal day-to-day grind for us here in Delhi.
