Lu Henn is just a small operation that we run out of one of the Dda Flats in Madangir. The place is 39/1332, which is really just a residential block where we have set up our stuff. It is definitely not a big corporate office or a shop with a fancy glass front. It is just a couple of rooms where we get the work done every day. Madangir is a very crowded neighborhood, so you can always hear the neighbors talking or kids running around in the hallway outside our door. We have our machines shoved into the main room and we keep the extra materials in the back corner. It gets very tight when a big shipment comes in. We usually start quite early before the building gets too hot because these flats can feel like an oven by midday. There is no elevator, so we have to carry every single roll of fabric up the stairs by ourselves. It's hard on the back and our hands are usually stained with ink or thread by lunch. We don't have a large staff, just a few of us who have lived in this part of town for years. It feels more like a small workshop than a real company. We just keep our heads down and focus on the orders. Most people who stop by are from the block or heard about us from a cousin. It’s a simple life, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills for the most part.
