Lloyds Hotel

Our building is situated at 9-A-1 Tihar, which is directly across from the Bhairav Temple. This part of the 110019 zip code is quite busy with people coming for the temple and others just passing through the neighborhood. The hotel itself is a basic structure. We have a front desk that is almost always covered in papers and a small lobby where people wait for their rooms. The rooms have the standard furniture you would expect—beds, a small table, and a bathroom that we try to keep as clean as possible. You can hear the temple bells throughout the day and the sound of traffic from the main road. It is not a quiet luxury retreat; it is a place for people to sleep when they have business in this part of Delhi. We spend a lot of time changing linens and checking people in and out. The stairs are a bit narrow and the paint is peeling a little in the corners, but it works for what it is. We don't have a big staff with uniforms or anything like that. It is just a few of us managing the keys and making sure the water is running. When the temple has a festival, the whole street gets packed and we just have to manage the crowd as best as we can. It’s a very local way of living and working, right in the thick of the Tihar area. We see a lot of travelers who just need a simple place to rest for the night.
