Krishan Brothers

If you walk down to 4651 in Bazar Ajmeri Gate, you’ll find us. It is one of those old parts of the city where the streets are narrow and everything feels like it’s been there forever. Krishan Brothers is a family thing, really. We’ve been operating out of this spot for years, surrounded by the noise of the market. There is always someone shouting, a cart rattling past, or the smell of food from the nearby stalls. We sell parts and hardware, the kind of things people need to fix their houses or machines. Our shop is crowded with stock. We have things piled up high on shelves, and we usually know exactly where everything is, even if it looks like a mess to someone else. There’s no air conditioning here, just a couple of old ceiling fans that have seen better days. We spend a lot of time talking to customers who have been coming to us since they were kids. It’s about those relationships, I guess. We don't use computers for everything; a lot of it is still written down in ledgers. It’s slower than the modern shops, but it works for us. When the sun goes down and the market starts to quiet a little, we pack up the goods and pull down the shutters. It’s hard work, and your hands get dirty, but it’s what we know. We are just part of the furniture in Ajmeri Gate.
