Aj Photography

Aj Photography is based inside the Crossriver Mall in Karkardooma. Being in a mall is a bit different from having a shop on a regular street. We have to follow the mall hours, so we’re often here late into the evening when the crowds are the biggest. Our studio space isn't huge, but we’ve managed to fit in a couple of backdrops, some big lights on stands, and a small desk where we do all the editing on the computer. You can usually hear the muffled sound of music from the mall speakers or the chatter of people walking past the window. We get a lot of families coming in, especially on weekends, wanting to get a quick portrait or photos of their kids. It can get a bit chaotic with toddlers running around and us trying to get them to sit still for just one second. The lights get pretty warm after they’ve been on for a few hours, so we usually have a small fan pointed at the camera guy. We don't do much in the way of fancy advertising; most people just see our photos in the window while they’re headed to the food court or the cinema. We spend a lot of time clicking through images and trying to get the colors to look right. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and adjusting tripods, but it’s what we do. The mall security guys usually stop by for a chat when things are slow.
