J. K. Emporium

Sarojni Nagar is always a chaotic and loud place to be. Our shop is number 77 in the Babu Market section. If you have ever been to Babu Market, you know how narrow and crowded the lanes can get. It is a real struggle just to walk through on the weekends when the shoppers are out. The shop itself is actually quite small. We have metal shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling to hold everything. We have to use a rickety old ladder whenever we need to reach the stuff at the very top. It is always a bit dusty, no matter how many times we sweep the floor. The air conditioner only works when it feels like it, so we mostly rely on the old ceiling fans. We spend the whole day talking to people and moving heavy stock around. There is never a quiet moment here. You can hear the shouting of other shopkeepers and the loud music from the stalls nearby. We eat our lunch standing up most of the time because there isn't much room for a proper break area. We have known the other owners in Babu Market for a long time. We look out for each other’s shops when someone needs to step out for a quick tea break. J. K. Emporium is just a tiny part of the huge Sarojni market scene. People usually just find us by walking past and looking in.
