Hyatt Regency

This place is located at 21/13 West Patel Nagar in New Delhi. It is a bit of a climb up the stairs sometimes, but we are all very used to the layout of the building by now. Hyatt Regency here is not what you might expect if you are thinking of those huge luxury towers you see in movies; it is more of a local operation that is really integrated into the neighborhood. We handle the rooms and make sure everything is ready for whenever someone shows up at the door looking for a place to stay the night. There is always laundry to be done, sheets to be folded, and bathrooms to be scrubbed before the next person arrives. We keep a close eye on the keys and the registration book at the front. West Patel Nagar is a lively and noisy area, so there is always some sound coming from the street, but inside we try to keep things as calm as we can for the guests. Our staff lives nearby mostly, so we know the local streets very well. If a guest asks where to find a good shop or the nearest metro station, we can tell them exactly where to go without looking at a map. It is a lot of repetitive work, checking people in and out, but we like the steady pace of it. The mornings are always the busiest time for us when everyone wants breakfast at once.
