Hotel Swagath

Hotel Swagath is on the second floor of the Sona Bazar building near Ajmeri Gate. It’s right in the heart of Old Delhi, so it’s always crowded and noisy outside. We’ve been at 1996/6 for a long time. To get to us, you have to go up the stairs in the market. The rooms are simple and a bit small, which is common for this part of the city. We don't have a lot of extra space. It’s a family-run kind of place. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who take turns at the desk. The area is great if you want to be near the railway station or the big markets. But it’s not for someone who wants peace and quiet. There’s always the sound of rickshaws and people shouting below. We keep the rooms as clean as we can, though the building itself is very old. We don’t have fancy amenities. You get a bed, a fan, and a bathroom. Most people who stay here are traders or budget travelers. We don’t do any marketing. People just find us because we’ve been here so long. It’s a practical spot for people who know Delhi and don’t mind the hustle. We just provide a place to sleep and keep an eye on things. It’s nothing more than that. We usually keep some hot tea going for guests who come in from the heat and need a seat.
