Hindustan Metal Trading Co

Our place, Hindustan Metal Trading Co, is located in the Jhilmil Industrial Area of Shahdara. We are at number 340 in Friends Colony. It is an industrial zone, so the whole vibe is quite different from a retail market. There is always the sound of machines or heavy vehicles passing by. We handle a lot of metal trading here, which means our hands are usually a bit dirty by lunch. The office part is just a small partitioned area with a couple of chairs and a lot of ledgers. We do not really do much decorating; the walls are mostly covered with old calendars and notes. The Jhilmil area can get quite dusty, especially in the dry months, so we are constantly wiping down the surfaces. It is a lot of heavy lifting and moving pipes or sheets around the floor. Most of the people who come here are regular contractors or workers from nearby factories. We start early in the morning, around the time the first trucks arrive. The heat in the summer can be tough because the roof is high and it gets trapped inside, but we have a few big fans that help a bit. It is a straightforward business. We buy, we sell, and we keep track of the weight. There is not much more to it than that. We just focus on getting the day’s work done without any extra talk.
