Okhla Phase I is a place where you always have dust on your shoes. Our spot at D 1415 isn't anything special to look at, just a functional space where we get the work done. Most days start with a bit of a struggle to find parking because the trucks are already lined up for the warehouses. We spend a lot of time checking lists and making sure the crates are actually where they’re supposed to be. It’s loud here with the factories nearby, and you can hear the hum of machinery all afternoon. We’ve got a couple of desks that have seen better days and a kettle that takes forever to boil. People think export-import is all travel and fancy meetings, but for us, it’s mostly just making sure the paperwork doesn’t get lost and the loaders know which pallet goes where. We don't have a big corporate lobby or someone to greet you at the door. You just walk in and see us working. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but honestly, we’re too busy with the daily logistics to care much about that. When the weather gets hot in Delhi, the fans just move the warm air around, but we just keep at it. It’s a bit of a grind when the humidity is high, but we just drink our water and keep checking the bills of lading. It’s a plain, honest living in a busy part of town where everyone is trying to move something.
