If you’ve ever been to Hauz Quazi, you know how crowded it gets. We are up on the second floor, Room 11, at number 2897. It’s a bit of a climb, and the stairs are narrow, so we don’t get many walk-in strangers. Most people who come to see us have been doing business with us for years. We deal in pipes. All sorts of pipes, though we don't keep the big stock right here in the office because there's just no room. This is where we handle the paperwork and take the calls. The fans hum all day to keep the heat away. It's a busy atmosphere with the noise from the street coming up through the windows. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a break. We’ve been in this building a long time. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the files are stacked pretty high on the desks. We know the other shop owners around here, and it feels like a small community despite being in such a huge city. When an order comes in, we coordinate with the warehouse to get it moved out. It’s a lot of coordination. Dealing with pipes is straightforward, nothing too complicated about it. We just try to keep the numbers straight and the customers satisfied with what they get. It's tight quarters, but we make it work for everyone involved. The ledger is always open and someone is always on the phone.
