Gruyere Hotel Management & Catering Technology Industrial School

Our place is over in B Block of Yamuna Vihar, right at B 5 /17. It’s a bit of an interesting setup because we are teaching people how to work in hotels and kitchens. On any given day, you might walk in and find students practicing how to set a table or maybe they are in the kitchen area trying to get a recipe right. It gets a bit hectic when everyone is trying to cook at once. There’s always the smell of something being prepared, though it isn't always something that smells good if a student makes a mistake. We have been here in Delhi for a bit, focusing on the industrial side of things, so it’s more about the actual work than just reading from books. The rooms are set up with the kind of equipment you’d find in a real hotel, though some of it is a bit older now. Yamuna Vihar is a lived-in neighborhood, so we see a lot of the same faces walking by every day. Students come from all over the nearby blocks. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a bit, but that’s just how things go here. We don't really do the big corporate thing; it’s more like a local training spot where people come to learn a trade and hopefully find a decent job later on. It’s a lot of manual work and standing on your feet for hours.
