If you are looking for us, we are tucked away at F-11A/7 in the Santgarh area of Tilak Nagar. It is one of those neighborhoods where the lanes are a bit narrow and there is always something happening. Our workshop is an older building with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors that have been painted many times. Inside, it smells like grease, old metal, and the sawdust that blows in from the carpenter next door. We have racks and racks of tools lining every wall. Some of the wrenches and hammers have been here for years. We don't like throwing things away if they still work. Most of our day is spent at the long metal benches in the center of the room. We have a small radio that plays local stations, though it is hard to hear when the machines are running. The floor is made of thick concrete that has been stained over time, but it is solid. We don't have a formal reception or a waiting room for visitors. Usually, if someone comes by, they just walk straight into the work area and find one of us. It is a very practical setup. We take our lunch breaks together sitting on some old crates in the back alley where it is a bit quieter. Tilak Nagar can be a loud place, but we like the energy of the market nearby. It’s just a group of us who enjoy working with our hands and making sure the tools are ready for use.
