Mehra Enterprises

Mehra Enterprises is right in the middle of Chandni Chowk. You know how it is there, always noisy and people pushing past you in the narrow lanes. Our place isn't very big, but we have a lot of stuff piled up on the shelves. My brother and I take turns sitting at the wooden desk near the entrance. Most days are just spent on the phone or checking the old ledger to see what is left in stock. We’ve been here a long time now, through all sorts of weather. The building is old and the stairs are a bit steep and creaky. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next delivery truck to arrive. It gets very hot in the summer months, but we have a small cooler that helps a little bit. We don't do anything fancy or have any big advertisements. People come to us because they know where we are and they've been coming for years. We've seen the shops around us change owners so many times. We just keep doing what we've always done. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it hard to get anything moved in or out of the shop. We have to wait for the late evening when it clears up a bit. It’s a busy life but it’s the only one we know. We don't even have a big sign. Just the name painted on the door.
