Shawl King

Our shop is at 17 Bhogal Lane in the Jangpura Bhogal area, which is a place that never seems to go to sleep. It is one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows everyone else’s business, and there is always a bit of a squeeze when a rickshaw tries to pass through. We have been here for quite a while now, and our space is filled to the ceiling with shawls of all kinds. It can get a bit cluttered, especially when we are getting ready for the winter season, but we know exactly where everything is hidden. The front of the shop is where we meet people, and the back is where we keep the records and take our breaks. We don't use any high-tech systems to track things, just some old notebooks and a decent memory. Some of the neighbors stop by just to chat for a few minutes, and we usually have a pot of tea going for anyone who wants a cup. It’s a local way of doing things, and we don't feel the need to change it just to look more modern. When the weather gets cold, the lane gets even busier, and we are on our feet from early morning until late at night. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that; we just want to sell the shawls we have and keep our little spot in the neighborhood. It is a busy, messy, and very real way to make a living.
