I am usually sitting here at 830 Kucha Pati Ram and the Bazaar Sita Ram gets so loud around noon every single day. We have bags everywhere in this shop, mostly made of canvas and some leather ones tucked in the back. The zippers sometimes get stuck because of the dust from the street so I spend a lot of my morning just checking them and wiping the handles down with a dry cloth. The lane outside is so narrow that rickshaws can barely turn around and people are always bumping into each other. It is just how it is in this part of the city. We don't have a fancy setup or bright lights, just some old wooden counters and shelves piled high with stock. My father used to say the location is good because anyone walking to the main road has to pass our door. It is a lot of hard work lifting the heavy crates when a new shipment arrives from the factory. My back usually hurts by the time we close up but that is just part of the job. I actually like the smell of the new fabric when we open a fresh box in the morning. Most people who come in are just looking for something sturdy that will not fall apart on the bus ride home. We just try to keep everything organized in this small space so we can find what someone wants without digging through twenty boxes.
