We are located at IX/6056 in Devlok Gali. It’s right opposite the ICICI Bank in Gandhi Nagar. Being near a bank is actually quite helpful because everyone knows where it is when they come to visit. We handle synthetic fabrics here at Bankey Bihari Synthetics Private Limited. The lane is usually packed with people and rickshaws, especially in the afternoons when things get busy. It can be quite a struggle to get a tempo in here to load up the goods for delivery. We have rolls of synthetics stacked up to the ceiling sometimes. It is a bit of a maze inside our store. We don’t have a fancy showroom with lights. It’s mostly just a place where we keep the stock and handle the daily orders. Working in East Delhi means dealing with a lot of noise and heat. We have a few old fans that hum all day long to keep us cool. The walls are a bit plain and maybe need a coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that right now. We just focus on the fabric and making sure we have what people are looking for. Gandhi Nagar is the heart of the textile trade in Delhi, so we stay right here. It’s a practical location. We know the other shopkeepers around Devlok Gali. We drink tea together and complain about the traffic. It’s a regular life. We just keep moving the cloth.
