Banaras Buttons & Beads Ltd.

If you come to the District Center in Janakpuri, you’ll find us in the Vishwa Sadan Building at number 9. We are up on the second floor. The stairs can be a bit steep, but you get used to it after a few trips. Inside Banaras Buttons & Beads Ltd., things are usually a bit crowded because of all the stock we have to keep on hand. There are boxes of buttons in every color you can think of and jars of beads stacked up against the walls. It isn't a showroom with bright lights; it’s more of a working warehouse where we spend the day sorting through orders. The light comes in through a few big windows, but mostly we rely on the overhead tubes. Sometimes the labels on the boxes fall off and we have to spend the afternoon figuring out what goes where. We drink a lot of tea here while we talk about what needs to be shipped out next. The building gets busy in the afternoons with people going to the other offices on our floor. It is loud sometimes, but we don't mind the noise much. We’ve got a small desk near the door for visitors, though most people who come by are just here to pick up packages. It's a practical space. We don't try to make it look like something it's not.
