Our spot in New Delhi is over in Govind Puri Extension, right in the middle of Kalka Ji. It’s 1879A 16, a place that’s always got something happening right outside the front door. The streets are quite narrow and usually packed with scooters and people going about their business. We’re part of the Park Hotels group, but this office is very much a local Delhi operation through and through. It’s a bit loud, the ceiling fans hum constantly, and there’s always the sound of the city coming through the open windows. We deal with the administrative side of the hotel business. It’s a lot of data entry, checking lists, and phone calls. The office itself is pretty simple—nothing like the fancy lobbies or rooms of the hotels we represent. We have old calendars on the wall and a water cooler that everyone huddles around to chat. Working in the 110 019 zip code means you have to be quick on your feet and get used to the chaos. We don’t have time for fancy talk or those polished corporate speeches you hear in big boardrooms. We just get the reports finished and sent off on time. It’s a practical place for practical people. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out or chat until it comes back on. It’s got that real Delhi feel to it, where everyone knows everyone’s business and we all help out.
