Down here in Kunkanuru Village, life moves at its own pace. We are based at H No. 2-79, which is just a regular house where we handle the business for Devanakonda Farmers Producer Company Limited. Devanakonda Mandal is where we all grew up and where our families have been farming for generations. It’s dusty and hot in Kurnool, but the land gives back if you treat it right. We got together as a group because it’s getting harder for a single family to make it. Now we share the tools and the transport. It makes sense when you think about it. We spend our mornings out in the fields and then maybe meet up at the house later to discuss what we are going to plant next. There is always something to fix, whether it is a tractor or a fence. We don't have a big fancy website or a marketing team. We just have our hands and the dirt. People in the village know where to find us if they need help or want to talk about the crop prices. We are just a bunch of neighbors trying to keep our heritage going. Sometimes the rains don't come and we worry, but that's just how it goes in this part of Andhra Pradesh. We take the good years with the bad ones and keep moving forward. It is a tough life but it is rewarding enough for us.
